The engineering profession in BC comprised onlymen—until 1959, when Marianne Ingeborg Claus, P.Eng., became the first woman professional engineer. (She enrolled with the association as an EIT in 1954.) Here, she receives her association registration at a branch event in Vancouver on September 8, 1959. The milestone moment was announced in the September edition of the association's journal, The BC Professional Engineer .
