The CIIEID will offer developing countries best-practices knowledge in extractive technology, public policy and regulations, with expertise in health and education outreach in order to empower industry, governments and non-governmental organizations to reduce poverty while protecting the environment. In moving beyond safety and environmental responsibilities, mining engineering has a significant global sustainability opportunity by contributing to poverty alleviation, health and capacity building for communities and governments both at home and abroad.
