INNOVATION January-February 2015

National Engineering and Geoscience Month 2015 National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM) kicks off on March 1. NEGM aims to promote awareness of engineering and geoscience to the wider public, and during this time APEGBC undertakes a number of initiatives to celebrate our members and their achievements, highlight the diverse fields within each profession, and remind the public of the relevance and importance of engineering and geoscience to everyday life. APEGBC’s theme this year is “curiosity.” Curiosity prompts us to learn and explore, and keeps us innovative. How do you stay curious?

will be held throughout the entire month. Involve your family and friends so they can share in the fun! APEGBC Science Games Now in its fourth year, the APEGBC Science Games will be held at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre and Museum of Vancouver on Saturday, March 7. This interactive competition is for students in Grades 1–6 and promotes science education and science-based careers in a fun and educational way. NEGM Drawing Contest This drawing contest is for children ages 4–12, and encourages them to think about careers in the sciences and use their creative skills.

APEGBC will be promoting NEGM through print, video, and social media. Events and activities such as the Popsicle Stick Bridge Building competition and the Drawing Contest
