Provincial Regulators and other stakeholders to share information and best practices on climate change. Mentoring Committee and Executive Committee Terms of Reference Revised APEGBC Council has approved changes to the Mentoring Commit- tee’s terms of reference. These changes include modifying the pur- pose of the committee to advise on the development and implemen- tation of the APEGBC Mentoring Program and to assist in matching qualified program applicants with suitable mentors. The APEGBC Mentoring Program is being enhanced to facilitate the delivery of a number of objectives in relation to the 2014 – 2017 Strategic Plan. Revised terms of reference were also approved for the Executive Committee in order to better articulate the role of the committee and formalize the committee’s role with respect to APEGBC representatives on other organizations, and advising on matters relating to Council meeting agendas, Council’s planning activities and the development of Council initiatives. Report on Audit and Finance Committee Structure Council has directed the Governance Committee to re-examine the model of a combined Audit and Finance Committee. At present, financial oversight is provided by the Executive Committee of Council acting as Finance Committee; however, the Executive Committee does not provide for specific consideration of financial or business acumen as qualification for committee composition. There is also annual turnover that occurs each year, as the president and past president are the only continuing members. It was also considered that the Audit Committee might benefit from a more intimate knowledge of the association’s finances gained through year-round oversight. Renewal of APEGBC/IStructE Memorandum of Understanding The Memorandum of Understanding between APEGBC and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) is being renewed. This agreement was originally signed in September 2002 and then renewed in April 2008. The purpose of this MOU is to set out the terms of use of the IStructE Membership Examination by APEGBC for the purpose of qualifying candidates as Designated Structural Engineers (Struct.Eng.) and to articulate the intention of both parties to work towards recognition at the full professional level by IStructE of APEGBC members who have qualified for and successfully completed the examination. Engineers Canada Update Engineers Canada is developing an online Competency-based Assessment of Engineering Work Experience project. APEGBC has developed its own online Competency Experience Reporting System which allows applicants to identify how they meet the association’s seven competency categories for professional engineering registration and will be consulted by Engineers Canada on development.
