APEGBC’s top honour for a geoscientist, the C. J. Westerman Memorial Award was presented to Allan Chapman, P.Geo., for his dedication to responsible water resource management. Paul Willis, P.Eng., was the recipient of APEGBC’s highest engineering award, the R. A. McLachlan Memorial Award, for establishing a thriving clean energy sector in BC. A special recognition award was presented in memoriam for Frank Baumann, P.Eng., a highly-respected geotechnical engineer and community advocate who passed away last year in a tragic accident. In memory of this outstanding professional engineer and volunteer, a video tribute was shown and the creation of the Frank Baumann Bursary by the APEG Foundation was announced. Andy Mill, P.Eng., Struct.Eng, FEC, returned as emcee for the President’s Awards Gala on Friday evening, to the delight of a packed crowd of APEGBC members as well as provincial and municipal government representatives. Throughout the evening, each award recipient was profiled in a short video featuring their accomplishments and contributions to society. Honours were awarded in the categories of Young Professional (Wesley Narciso, P.Eng.), Teaching Excellence (Dr. Lesley Shannon, P.Eng.), Community Service (Mike Skene, Eng.L.), D. C. Lambert Professional Service (Emily Cheung, P.Eng., FEC), and Meritorious Achievement (Dr. James Olson, P.Eng. and C. David Sellars, P.Eng.).

APEGBC’s 95 th Annual General Meeting was held Saturday, October 25, where incoming President Dr. John Clague, P.Geo. FGC, and the 2014/2015 Council were inducted. Five motions were brought forward by members and debated on the floor (see page 18). Following the AGM, APEGBC vol- unteers were thanked for their dedica- tion and service to the association at the Recognition Luncheon. Awards were also presented in the categories of Mentoring (Al Majdzadeh, P.Geo.) and Sustainability (City of Richmond). The 2014 Editorial Board Award was presented to Dr. Matthias Jakob, P.Geo., and Kristopher Holm, P.Geo., for their article, “Germany and Alberta’s Floods – Flood Risk Reduction Lessons for BC?”
