ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND CENTENNIAL RECEPTION TO CAP OFF CONFERENCE Plans for Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Annual lies ahead for Engineers and Geoscientists BC and other regulatory bodies and their registrants.
Conference and Annual General Meeting are complete— and this year, the schedule of speakers and professional development streams will end with a kick-off reception to celebrate Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s upcoming 100 th anniversary. The Annual Conference is scheduled for October 17–19, 2019, at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort in Kelowna, BC. Keynote speakers for the conference will include Gregor Jeffrey, an expert on the neuroscience of communications, who will introduce an incredibly simple and scientific way to truly engage our audience every time we speak. George Kourounis, award-winning explorer, storm chaser, and television host, will discuss how the key to accomplishing anything worthwhile is to understand why we are afraid to do something. Paul Craven, Superintendent of Professional Governance, will speak about the Professional Governance Act , the role of the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance, and what
Chief Clarence Louie of the Osoyoos Indian Band will share the story of the Osoyoos Indian Band and his emphasis on economic development as a means to improve his people’s standard of living. Chief Louie was recently recognized with an induction into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame. The two-day Annual Conference will also feature 10 streams of professional development sessions, networking opportunities, an exhibitor tradeshow, and the President’s Awards Gala. The conference will be followed by the 100th Annual General Meeting on Saturday, October 19. After the Annual General Meeting, Engineers and Geoscientists BC will kick off its 100 th anniversary celebration with a Centennial Reception, which will include historical displays, entertainment, prizes, and giveaways.
