MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ROBERT G. ALLAN, P.ENG., FEC

Elise has made the pursuit of public safety her paramount goal in her current role with BC Ferries and throughout her 26-year career in the LNG industry. One of her most significant accomplishments throughout this time was creating the first-ever comprehensive LNG Quantitative Risk Assessment Code, ensuring that current and future development of LNG projects along the coast of British Columbia, and around the world, are adequately supported with sound engineering principles that ensure public safety. Elise completed the project without funding, engaging a team of globally recognized experts to volunteer their time. As a team leader, she is not only dedicated to serving her profession, but highly effective in inspiring others to do the same. An inspirational role model, she is currently the first woman to take a Vice- chair position on the Canadian LNG Code Committee, and the first to chair the Task Force on risk assessment. Giving back to the next generation, Elise dedicates time to help engineers-in-training towards achieving their licensing goals, and supports women in science and technology forums. For her outstanding contributions to public safety and service to the professions, we are proud to present Elise Chan with the D.C. Lambert Professional Service Award. D.C. LAMBERT PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AWARD ELISE CHAN, P.ENG.

One of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s greatest strengths is our volunteers, and Kevin defines what it means to give back to the professions. For more than 15 years, Kevin has volunteered with the association, twice serving in a leadership role on Council, shaping the future of the professions. He has also been an invaluable member of numerous committees and divisions, including the Executive Committee, Mentoring Committee, Registration Committee, Nominating Committee, and the Geoscience Committee, which he chaired from 2008 to 2015. Actively involved with the South Central Branch, Kevin helps organize community and professional development events. With a focus on public safety, Kevin applies his technical expertise as a practice reviewer for the association, and forged ties among industries when he was an appointee to the Engineers and Geoscientists BC/Association of BC Forest Professionals Joint Practice Board. An accomplished geotechnical engineer, Kevin is recognized throughout the province as an expert in terrain stability and landslide analysis in both resource and civil sectors through his work with Westrek Geotechnical Services. For demonstrating an extraordinary passion for giving back to the professions and our association, Kevin Turner is a worthy recipient of the D.C. Lambert Professional Service Award. D.C. LAMBERT PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AWARD KEVIN TURNER, P.ENG., FEC, FGC (HON.)

A distinguished leader in the international marine design community, Robert turned a small domestic business into a Canadian brand that is recognized around the world as a leader in high performance tugboat design, winning international awards for projects such as the unique Z-Tech tug design for the Port of Singapore. Striving to continually improve and enhance his field, Robert has personally spearheaded several initiatives to develop specialized high performance tugs for safer tanker escort, and to harmonize international rules for the design and construction of tugs. He has presented to many international conferences, inspiring other engineers to put safety at the forefront of their marine designs. Robert has contributed chapters on workboat and tugboat design for the leading design textbook in ship design and construction, and since 2015 has been sharing his knowledge with a new generation of engineers as a mentor and adjunct faculty member with the UBC Masters in Naval Architecture program. For his outstanding contributions to safety, engineering, and commercial workboat design, in Canada and around the world, Engineers and Geoscientists BC is proud to present Robert G. Allan with the Meritorious Achievement Award.
