Understanding the mandate Registrants’ understanding of the organization’s mandate was once again high, with 68 percent (up from 67 percent last year) citing their understanding as either good or excellent. Understanding was generally consistent across registrant groups, although trainees continued to report the lowest level of familiarity with the mandate, with 51 percent indicating a strong understanding. Geoscientists showed a modest improvement compared to the previous year, with 69 percent reporting an excellent or quite good understanding (up from 65 percent in 2025). The survey also revealed that registrants’ priorities remain closely aligned with the organization’s core regulatory responsibilities. Enforcing standards of professional and ethical practice continued to rank as the organization’s top priority. The findings also highlighted differences among registrant groups, with sole practitioners placing greater emphasis on CE requirements and geoscientists assigning less importance than engineers to the regulation of firms engaged in professional practice. Next steps This year’s survey results will continue to inform Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s registrant engagement strategy, which aims to strengthen the relationship and communication between the response times, the organization is in the process of enhancing its client service model by reviewing systems, processes, and online tools to make regulatory services more accessible, organization and registrants.
