Discipline orders usually include conditions that must be met by registrants before they are restored in good standing with full practice rights. All disciplinary orders are public. They are published on the Engineers and Geoscientists BC website, the Registrant Directory, in Innovation and on the organization's newsfeed. Authorities having jurisdiction in BC are also notified of a registrant’s change in registration status so they can take appropriate actions. The consequences of a discipline decision can have a major impact on registrants, their reputation, and their practice, especially if they are suspended or have their registration cancelled. UNAUTHORIZED PRACTICE AND MISUSE OF TITLE Engineers and Geoscientists BC also investigates non-registrants who are alleged to have engaged in the unauthorized practice of professional engineering or geoscience. As well, the organization investigates those who have used reserved titles or other names, titles, or language implying that they are registrants of Engineers and Geoscientists BC or authorized to practice the professions of engineering or geoscience in BC. Non-registrants who engage in unauthorized practice or misuse of title pose a risk to public safety and the environment. In fiscal 2023, 201 enforcement files were opened to address unauthorized practice or misuse of title. During the same period, 163 enforcement files were resolved from current and previous fiscal years. When non registrant actions result in a court order or written agreement, they are typically published on the Engineers and Geoscientists BC website.
