Innovation Summer 2026
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS | 2025-2026
The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) is delivering the Canxport project, including the construction of a transloading platform to enable exports of key bulk CANXPORT PROJECT (FORMERLY RIDLEY ISLAND EXPORT LOGISTICS PROJECT) commodities to Asian markets (including resins, cereal grains, and agricultural products), from Ridley Island, BC. The platform works include the construction of an approximately
10 km-long rail loop to be serviced from CN’s mainline. A key environmental challenge was the design and construction of twin box precast culverts on a fish-bearing stream requiring significant excavation and replacement of native soft marine sediments, and dynamic compaction to provide a suitable structural foundation. The civil works are being completed by a joint venture between Coast

The Array of Hope initiative delivers a 45-kWdc photovoltaic system on the Alan Batey Library and Learning Commons in Saanich, BC, supported by the ARRAY OF HOPE INITIATIVE
EBSCO Solar Grant and College capital funding. The installation comprises 90 photovoltaic panels rated at 500 W each, arranged across a ballasted flat roof
system and a vertical wall array, generating 46 MWh/year and reducing the building’s electrical demand. The project demonstrates lowering institutional emissions and using a ballasted design that protects roof integrity and supports long term public safety. Real time monitoring, interactive displays, and demonstration panels provide transparent performance data and environmental stewardship by
