Innovation Summer 2026
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS | 2025-2026
A.H. Lundberg Systems Limited of Vancouver designed and supplied a 17.5-tonnes-per-day (tpd) Sulphur Burner System to the Artemis Gold plan in Vanderhoof, BC. The sulphur burner produces 35 tpd of SO 2 gas at 18% volume per volume percent (v/v) that is used for SULPHUR BURNER SYSTEM FOR CYANIDE DESTRUCTION
detoxifying the cyanide in the effluent discharging the operation. The sulphur burner has an electrical pre-heating and conditioning system for a fossil fuel free operation. The combustion energy generated from the incineration of molten sulphur is recovered in a waste heat boiler producing 12 barg steam and at the same time cooling the gas stream. The system was supplied in multiple pre-fabricated modules to reduce the overall cost and facilitate installation. Company: A.H. All work occurred within nightly 8-hour closures, minimizing impacts on airline partners and ensuring the runway returned safely to service each morning. The project improved pavement strength to reduce foreign-object debris risk, upgraded drainage systems, and installed high-efficiency LED edge lighting, extending the runway’s service life by 10 years and meeting updated Transport Canada standards. Aviation safety and environmental performance were enhanced through an innovative return-to service process supported by nightly inspections, coordinated handovers, and rigorous quality controls. This approach ensured full Transport Canada compliance while reducing long-term maintenance needs and energy consumption. The resulting runway is more reliable, resilient, and sustainable,
