We are currently looking to add a mid-level Civil Engineer to support our Vancouver, BC (VAN- 1) office location for hydrologic and hydraulic design services to multi-disciplinary teams in local and worldwide projects. The engineer in this role is responsible for performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyzes and design, preparing hydrologic and hydraulic models, analyzing model results, and preparing materials to present results to clients. This individual will assist in the development of scopes of work for hydrologic and hydraulic analysis assignments, specifically tasks related to dams and hydropower systems. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience, training and/or skills in advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and design. The primary responsibilities for this role will include: • Providing state-of-the-art hydrologic/ hydraulic modeling and preliminary and final designs • Performing dam hydraulic design, conveyance, storage, reservoir modeling, preparation of hydrological/hydraulic models, design reports and plans and specifications • Organizing, drafting and coordinating production of assigned sections of various reports to ensure technical consistency and inclusion of appropriate documentation • Supporting Senior staff and Project Managers in coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors. Performing project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports to ensure quality and profitability Required Qualifications & Skills: • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in surface water/ hydrology/hydraulics • PEng or eligible for PEng registration. • 5 to 8 years of professional experience in hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design, or related surface water engineering; OR, any equivalent combination of education (i.e. MS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Hydrology and Hydraulics) and experience which provides the required knowledge, skill and ability to perform the work • Industry hydrologic/hydraulic modeling experience required including experience in steady state and unsteady analyzes experience (i.e. looking for unsteady and CFD modelers) and design • Hands-on working knowledge of the latest computer analytical software • Demonstrated strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and excellent computer skills (HEC models, programming languages, numerical analysis and CAD, GIS applications, and office productivity software) • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, report preparation capabilities and client presentation abilities • Ability to travel up to 50% in Canada and abroad is an added benefit, but not an essential requirement.
