Resources In recent years, APEGBC has

developed a number of resources related to sustainability and climate change to support members. Practice guidelines relating to climate change adaptation include guidelines on sustainability and on legislated flood hazard assessments in a changing climate, with others in development. Members can also access climate change information on the APEGBC website, at apeg.bc.ca/climateportal. As well, APEGBC is helping to develop a new provincial energy step code for buildings, which will establish timelines for defined, future building-performance targets that go beyond the current BC Building Code . The energy step code will enable local governments to encourage construction of energy- efficient buildings. As with other areas of practice, APEGBC works with all levels of government on climate-related standards, codes, regulations and other instruments that affect the engineering and geoscience professions. If you are interested in helping APEGBC address climate change, APEGBC offers many seminars, branch events, and annual conference workshops on climate change adaptation and mitigation. Many APEGBC committees and divisions also address the issue. In addition, you can participate in a climate change survey until February 17, 2017, to provide feedback on the position papers, identify gaps in knowledge or professional practice tools, and help us determine what kind of information and resources members require from APEGBC to meet their climate change-related professional obligations (See page 8). v Access the position paper at apeg.bc.ca/ About-Us/Commitment-to-Community/ Climate-Change. Address questions about APEGBC’s position on human-induced climate change to the Climate Change Advisory Group: ccag@apeg.bc.ca.
