AUG 11-15/13. WORLD MINING CONGRESS AND EXPO. The World Mining Congress and Expo (WMC 2013) will be hosted by a collaborative team including the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) as well as five top Canadian universities: McGill University, University of British Columbia, Queen’s University, University of Toronto and University of Alberta. The theme for WMC 2013 is Mapping the Future: Advances in Mining Engineering,” and an extensive technical program of leading-edge, peer-reviewed papers will provide the opportunity for high level knowledge sharing with peers. Colin and Julie recreate the experience of surviving a hurricane from the confines of a rowboat – highlighting strategies we can all use to deal with adversity and transition. Change and negative setbacks can be an opportunity to alter course and flourish. They show us how to modify our perception so that we use uncertainty and transition as a tool to grow and prosper. Using captivating stories, Julie and Colin will talk about how to anticipate and prepare for change, assess risks, and improve communication during difficult times.
