Having spent her career continuously raising the profile of the geoscience profession, Dr. ’Lyn Anglin’s service and selfless dedication has made a significant and long- standing contribution to the mineral exploration industry, the wider Earth sciences community, Engineers and Geoscientists BC, and the people of British Columbia. Her expertise is well-respected across the industry and all levels of government, and her leadership and dedication to the profession is consistently recognized, including being named one of the “100 Global Influential Women in Mining” by the UK’s Women in Mining Group . As the first President and CEO of Geoscience BC, one of ’Lyn’s greatest legacies is the instrumental role she played in creating and growing the organization into what it is today: an internationally renowned example of how to deliver industry-directed, government-funded, research and data that can be used and capitalized on by industry, government, and the public. Under her leadership, Geoscience BC produced a wealth of new geoscience data sets and knowledge that generated significant new mineral exploration investment in British Columbia, as well as a number of new mineral discoveries, and contributed to the extension of the mine life of an important mineral producer. Continuously balancing the interests of government and industry has not only helped expand her professional reach, but also provided a platform to educate the public on the provincial benefits and value of mineral exploration, as well as work with stakeholders to create a better understanding of the interaction between First Nations communities and the natural geological environment. She is committed to the advancement of girls and women in Earth sciences, and is passionate about educating and engaging the public, particularly First Nations communities, on the role of geoscience in the well-being of all Canadians.
