DISCIPLINE NOTICE: SOFYA FREY

In the Consent Order, Ms. Frey admitted that she demonstrated unprofessional conduct related to the structural engineering services she provided for the Project and acted contrary to the Bylaws of Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Ms. Frey agreed that, among other things, she failed to: • document the calculations necessary to determine the reinforcing requirements needed for the balcony slab to act as a cantilever and adequately document her pre-construction investigation in relation to reinforcing quantities, spacing and size; • document the calculations necessary for the Hot Tub Replacement and failed to document her onsite investigations regarding the existing structural information; and • ensure that documented

As outlined in the Consent Order, Ms. Frey’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled. If Ms. Frey reapplies for reinstatement of her registration, in addition to complying with the requirements set out in the Bylaws and any requirements mandated by the Credentials Committee, she must complete the Professional Practice Examination, the Professional Engineering and Geoscience in BC Online Seminar, and an educational course in structural design. If Ms. Frey’s registration is reinstated, her work related to structural engineering must be peer reviewed for a minimum period of one year or eight projects, whichever comes later. Following the peer review period, Ms. Frey must undergo a practice review conducted by the Audit and Practice Review Committee. Ms. Frey agreed to pay $10,000 toward the legal costs of Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

In a January 25, 2023, Consent Order, Sofya Frey admitted that she demonstrated unprofessional conduct relating to the structural engineering services she provided for several residential buildings in Burnaby, BC. Ms. Frey’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled. Ms. Frey agreed to pay $10,000 toward the legal costs of Engineers and Geoscientists BC. On January 25, 2023, Ms. Frey agreed to a Consent Order cancelling her registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. From 2016-2018, Ms. Frey provided structural engineering services related to exterior wall repairs, balcony slab demolition and repairs, and canopy extensions for several residential buildings in Burnaby, BC (the Project). As part of her role in the Project, Ms. Frey accepted responsibility for a pre-construction structural assessment of the concrete balconies and railings and the design and replacement of

independent structural reviews were conducted for the Project.

DISCIPLINE NOTICE: SEYED NIMA RAZAVI ZADEH

In a December 15, 2022, Consent Order, Seyed Nima Razavi Zadeh admitted that he was convicted of sexual assault and the conviction renders him unsuitable for registration or licensing with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Mr. Zadeh’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled.

In 2018, Mr. Zadeh was convicted of sexual assault. On December 15, 2022, Mr. Zadeh agreed to a Consent Order, admitting that the nature and circumstances of the conviction constitute unprofessional conduct and render him unsuitable for registration or licensing with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.

Mr. Zadeh’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled. As a result of his cancellation, Mr. Zadeh is prohibited from using the title engineer-in-training or EIT. Mr. Zadeh must pay $3,000 toward the legal costs of Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
