FRASER RIVER AT MISSION, RIVERBANK REHABILITATION Ocean Trailer Delta retained the LCI Engineering Group, specialists in hydrology and river engineering, to stabilize the riverbank and to provide riparian vegetation enhancement on their property in Mission, BC. The project involved rehabilitating a turn-of-the-century sawmill/log sort site, including a slough historically used for a sternwheeler ferry. The original site was unsafe, with collapsing banks along the Fraser River and slough. The work involved river engineering design, which incorporated climate change adaptation and resilience to erosion/sour hazards, for approximately 500 m of riverbank. An innovative combination of rock riprap and riparian planting was used on the river and slough. Over 10,000 plantings were included in the riparian restoration works for sustainability and environmental enhancement. In addition, drainage works were designed to safely channel runoff from the proposed truck trailer storage site with a combination of rock-lined ditches, chutes and vegetated ditches. WEST VANCOUVER POLICE DEPARTMENT– PUBLIC SAFETY TRAILER The Public Safety Trailer is a state-of-the-art mobile surveillance platform designed to enhance security through 360° video monitoring and proactive deterrence measures. Equipped with high-resolution cameras, motion sensors, floodlights, two-way audio, pattern lights, Ensol’s EMI board, an NVR, a cellular modem, and Starlink connectivity, the system ensures comprehensive surveillance and rapid response capabilities. Integrated warning lights and audio alerts work to actively deter criminal activity, while a solar-powered energy system with shore power backup ensures uninterrupted operation. The EMI board manages sensors, trailer lights, and Starlink, while providing real-time data on battery status, load, temperature, solar performance, and GPS location. Successfully tested by the West Vancouver Police Department in its facility, the trailer is slated for deployment in parks, shopping malls, and other high traffic areas prone to spikes in crime, reinforcing public safety through advanced, autonomous monitoring. pumps powered only by clean electricity from the BC grid will be used to move sewer heat into the district energy system. For peaking purposes, electric boilers and thermal storage will also be installed to complement the sewer-heat recovery, while natural gas boilers are reserved for back-up purposes only, ensuring the system has excellent resiliency thanks to multiple fuel sources and redundant capacity.
