MAPLEWOOD FIRE & RESCUE CENTRE The Maplewood Fire & Rescue Centre is a testament to the District of North Vancouver (DVN) and the DNV Fire Rescue Services dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability. The 1.6-acre site is home to the 4,438-m² building, which serves as DNVFRS’ headquarters and emergency operations centre, a new fire station for the growing community of Maplewood, and an outdoor training yard. The state-of the-art facility combines a high-performing building envelope, all-electric air-source heat pumps and boiler mechanical plant, high-efficiency heat recovery ventilators, LED lighting leveraging daylight sensors, and a 28-kW photovoltaic array on the roof. As one of the district’s highest performing, lowest carbon-emitting buildings (1.2 kg CO2/m²), the Maplewood Fire & Rescue Centre embodies commitment to reducing emissions in the face of climate change.
