WOODFIBRE LNG FERRY AND FLOATING ACCOMMODATIONS
In partnership with the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Ú xwumixw (Squamish Nation), the Woodfibre LNG project determined that on-site floating accommodation, called a floatel, was needed for its non-local workforce. The selected floatel is a 35,000-gross-ton converted cruise ferry, the MV Isabelle X. Bridgemans Services Group retained Westmar Advisors to help develop its mooring system and design the marine infrastructure needed for operation. Two new ferry terminals

One terminal is located at the Woodfibre site and uses a modified barge combined with offshore mooring technology fitted with attenuators. The second new terminal is in Richmond and incorporates an advanced pile fendering and mooring system. Mandated by provincial and Squamish Nation regulatory approvals, the floatel’s deployment represents a community-driven solution that mitigates environmental and social impacts while Participants: Simon Daniel, P.Eng.; Daniel Leonard, P.Eng.; Robert Louie, P.Eng.; Cheng Zhou, P.Eng.; Patrick Devlin, P.Eng.; Sal Vayeghan, P.Eng.; Peter Jiang, EIT; Logan Elias, EIT.
