GUICHON CREEK FLOOD RISK ASSESSMENT Ausenco was retained by Lower Nicola Indian Band (LNIB) to conduct a flood-risk assessment study along a segment of Guichon Creek upstream of its conference with Nicola River, in Merritt, BC. The study assessed flood risks and hazards during extreme events. The results supported the community to make informed decisions and were presented for simulated flood extends, depths, and velocities for different climate scenarios, including climate change. Ausenco partnered with LNIB to develop the inundation maps. PORT HARDY HOSPITAL MOBILE CT TRAILER PROJECT A unique collaboration between BC Hydro and Island Health brought much-needed diagnostic medical imaging services to residents of North Vancouver Island with the installation of a mobile computed tomography (CT) scanner at Port Hardy Hospital (PHH). AES Engineering was engaged to provide electrical provisions for the mobile CT trailer, which consisted of a new BC Hydro service and a new purpose-built electrical connection kiosk. The newly prepared site is designed to run on clean utility power instead of diesel generated electricity. Mobile imaging is being hailed as a game changer for augmenting smaller hospital imaging capabilities and providing local access for those in more remote communities. The PHH mobile CT scanner was operational in December 2023. The mobile CT trailer will also be used to support the imaging program at Victoria General Hospital when not in use at PHH. Company Name: AES Engineering Participants: Lisanne Naeth, P.Eng.; Jacob Beiling, P.Eng.
